This STUDIO section features ongoing collaborative projects and unfinished individual works which will be updated as they progress.

• GAZETTEER

  Integrating text by Berkeley-based poet and essayist C.S. Giscombe, with my take on what constitutes a map, my collages are visual manifestations of his dreams about travel.
  

• LIFT BLADE PLOW

  Mailing scrolls of rice paper, back and forth from where ever we might be, this collaboration with Shenzhen-based ethnographic anthropologist, Mary Anne O’Donnell suggests contact improvisation.
  

• Long Time Coming / Long Time to be Gone

  A book made up of large sheets of fine water color paper, on which I paint, draw and apply collage, describing things I didn’t know I knew, or that I still don’t understand.
  

• On the Road

  An itinerant existence requires a portable “studio,” in which to explore ones travels and destinations. The 68 page spreads in On the Road, combining mixed-media collage, paint, oil crayon, and ink, often seed ideas for other works.
  

• Kriah Quilt

  Honoring the custom in Jewish tradition to rip the garment of the bereaved to mark the irreparable rending of grievous loss. Here I reassemble, with countless hand stitches, that which was torn apart.
