This book offers visual midrash (commentary) about the ongoing political crisis specific to the Middle East, but applicable to everywhere in our beautiful beleaguered world. The original pages are loosely bound signatures from the proof dummy of a book about Elections in Israel, which I designed for the Israel Democracy Institute in 2001. The barely visible text and statistical charts provide a cerebral textural base for the hard to decipher scribbles and fragmented collaged and drawn images.   I would go to my studio and try NOT to think about everyday life which bristles with tension, grief, and weariness. There I “make a place for peace” in my mind and heart, and create sequential visual narratives meant to comfort and enlighten.
